High School Public Speaking Program

*VIRTUAL* Business Case Study Discussion

October 5th @ 11am - 12:30pm
Interested in pursuing a business major in college?

Our workshop gives high school students the opportunity to gain early exposure to the fundamentals of business education through a facilitated case study discussion. Explore key concepts, develop essential skills, and discover your passion for the field before you even step onto a college campus.

Prepare yourself for success in business, leadership, and beyond!

A business case is a window into a real business problem scenario where students will be expected to combine their creative ideas in various aspects of a business (Organizational behavior, Marketing, Strategy, Finance, Economics, etc) to develop a solution. Developing a solution will require students to convince their peers of their thoughts and ideas, engage in negotiations, challenge ideas they do not agree with, and develop crystal clear communication. Exactly what they will be expected to demonstrate in a real business job scenario. Get ready for a high energy discussion solving real business problems!!

Benefits of a High School Public Speaking Class focused on Business Scenario Analysis

  • Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills
Business scenario analysis challenges students to evaluate real-life situations, identify problems, and propose solutions. This boosts their critical thinking and decision-making abilities, crucial in both academic and professional environments.
  • Improve Communication Skills
Discussing complex business scenarios improves students' verbal communication by encouraging them to express ideas clearly and persuasively. They learn to organize thoughts effectively and present them in a logical manner.
  • Real-World Application
Students gain insight into how businesses function, including understanding market challenges, strategies, and risk management. This helps bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical business applications.
  • Learn to influence a group
Students learn how to reach consensus, and present ideas collectively—skills highly valued in the workplace. The need to persuade others when discussing different business strategies helps students develop strong argumentation skills. Engaging in debates builds resilience and adaptability in defending or modifying positions.
  • Confidence and Leadership Development
Presenting business solutions in front of peers enhances self-confidence and leadership. Students take ownership of their ideas, defend their positions, and gain valuable experience leading discussions.
  • Analytical and Research Skills
Analyzing business cases involves gathering information, interpreting data, and evaluating the impact of decisions. Students develop strong analytical and research skills, essential for problem-solving in business contexts.
  • Career Preparation
The analysis of business scenarios mirrors challenges encountered in professional fields like management, marketing, and entrepreneurship. This exposure provides students with valuable insights into potential career paths.
  • Feedback and Adaptability
Receiving feedback on both analysis and presentation helps students improve their public speaking and analytical skills. They become more flexible and adaptive thinkers, better prepared for future challenges.
