Our camps are all about a healthy combination of fun and learning in the summer. All camps have expert coaches with small groups. This summer, we are introducing the Plus track for experienced campers.

In our multi-platform technology camps, campers can choose to do more projects in any of the technology platform offered that week.​

In addition to our rich camp content, during breaks we take our campers outside on grassy fields and get sunlight while we play fun games like dodge ball, beach-ball and even fly mini drones. We sometimes have picnic style lunches outside (under a shade). Never a dull moment in our summer camps. We make learning fun!!

Camp Descriptions

In one of the most innovative and prolific Technology Summer camps, not only will campers learn coding but will be inventing and leading the path in technology creation, with the guidance of our experienced coaches. They will go through a multi-faceted creative journey.

All our technology camps are customized for Beginners and Advanced programmers with a variety of challenges based on prior programming experience of campers...each week has new programs and challenges so repeat campers will get all new materials every week. We have huge rooms with a lot of space to create, build, experiment and learn.

This year we are introducing the Plus learning track in our Technology Camps. If your child has already gone through a specific technology camp with us in previous years or during the school year, they will be our Plus students who will follow a track of advanced learning of appropriate level. They will be challenged with open ended creative problem solving that will develop more of their leadership in a technology environment. When registering, you can choose if your child qualifies for the Plus learning track.

Game and Animation Programming in Scratch

Campers build games, animations and applications using MIT's Scratch platform and see creations come to life immediately in front of their eyes. Campers will build a myriad of different games from Space pursuits to Wizard battles.... Innovative Ball games to logic puzzles using the simple yet amazingly powerful Scratch Platform. Challenges to keep both Beginner and Advanced programmers engaged and learning.

Advanced: Our Advanced Scratch program boasts a highly engaging curriculum designed for experienced programmers. If you think Scratch is just simple block coding, think again. In the Advanced Game Programming curriculum, your experienced programmer child will learn many sophisticated algorithms to build ultimate challenging games like the Harry Potter Wizarding battle, the Wingardium Leviosa where you cast custom spells based on custom waves of the wand and much more. A great program to learn advanced Game Design logic in a very comfortable platform designed by MIT.

Web site Design and Development
Campers learn HTML and Rapid Development tools to build a fully functioning and live website with multi page navigation, embedded pictures, videos, links to internal and external pages etc. They will learn all the basic skills needed to be able to build any kind of website in the future with many practical uses (like organizing their study links, managing calendars and events to share with parents etc).

Advanced: Advanced students will branch out into learning and applying Cascading Style Sheets in their website.

Robotics

Program mBots, light and color sensing Ozobots to solve multiple fun challenges. Program many logical challenges with the Lego EV3 Mindstorm integrating multiple sensors and motors. This summer we will also have BB-8 join us for a round of bowling!!
A free form camp for beginners and advanced programmers to learn the fundamentals and complex algorithms of robotics and developing innovative movements, applications and solutions to challenges. Campers can expect challenges they have never seen before that can only be solved using their keen Vulcan sense of logic and programming prowess.

When code interacts with moving mechanical part of a robot there is invariably a loss of energy and hence efficiency goes down. Your child will learn advanced programming techniques to minimize efficiency loss and increase effectiveness of the robot in completing tasks and challenges. Mobile Apps - Beginner / Intermediate with MIT App Inventor
Campers design and develop fully functional mobile apps and games that they can install on their phones plus share with family and friends. Using simple yet powerful tools, campers proudly design and develop fully functional Android apps. They will amaze you with their creativity in this program that has campers building all new apps at both beginner and advanced levels. Students will become self sufficient in building apps and various inbuilt phone sensors like accelerometer, orientation sensor, GPS, camera etc. Our students have branched out to win many coding competitions and published apps on the app store. Your child will come out of this camp with sufficient exposure and knowledge to continue their journey independently and build many mobile apps with practical use.

Electronic Circuit Design and Programming - Beginner / Advanced

Rising Grades 5+: Design and Configure fully functioning electronic circuits on Arduino and program using the all powerful C language to make functioning prototypes of consumer utility products and games.

Rising Grades 5+. Plus: Students will build usable electronics using IOT (Internet of Things) technology to create internet enabled device with practical use like internet enabled light switches, automated plant watering devices that can be switched on and off remotely and more!!

A unique camp combining Computer Programming, Storytelling and Film making.

Game and Application Development in JavaScript
Campers build multiple interactive games and applications as they learn one of the most powerful web scripting languages. This camp will give them a real world flavor of what goes behind many of the web applications they experience in their daily lives. Plus they will leave the camp with enough knowledge to continue their learning at home in their path to become independent programmers. Campers will build many visual and interactive applications and games in JavaScript. Week of Aug 10th, students will build a working encryption/decryption algorithm as they learn about cyber security and secure messaging.

2D/3D Game and Virtual Reality Development in Unity and C-Sharp

The ultimate game development platform. Campers will build simple but high-quality 3D games in Unity and C-Sharp, that can be installed and played across mobile devices, desktop or the web. This is one of the most popular platform to build 3D games. Complete package to build games with cutting edge cinematic graphics, animations and rich functional integrations. Campers will also learn the essentials of a Virtual Reality application and associated coding techniques. It will be fascinating!!

Lights - Camera - Action

A camp where students will produce their own film, edit them and publish in youtube. They will learn about a variety of video productions, stop motion videos and use them as impactful channels to communicate their ideas on an assigned theme. A camp that will draw out their creativity in ideating around a theme, structuring their script, creating props and putting everything together into an animated film. A unique blend of technology and art!!

Computer Science with Java

This unique program will mirror the content covered in the first two years of Computer Science Undergrad, while maintaining an appropriate pace of instruction that will be manageable by students in high school.

Starting with the content of AP Computer Science (High School), the curriculum will then take students into depths of object oriented programming and programming algorithms. They will also cover topics taught in Computer Science undergrad which will give them an edge in the college application process plus a significant advantage over peers when they actually set foot into college. Students will also solve problems from the US Computer Science Olympiad.

Coding is just a small part of Computer Science and this program will take students deep into areas of computer science and engineering like algorithm analysis, performance optimization etc. Truly mirroring what is taught in Computer Science undergrad.

We have developed this program in partnership with Computer Science professors from some of the top universities in the country.

Students required to have at least 12 months of prior programming experience

Advanced Computer Science with Java

This assumes basic knowledge of JAVA, or students having attended the foundational 'Computer Science with JAVA' camp.

Students will learn more advanced programming algorithms of recursion, sorting and searching algorithms, data structures and more. These are topics that are covered in Computer Science undergrad which will give them an edge in the college application process plus a significant advantage over peers when they actually set foot into college. Students will also solve advanced problems from the US Computer Science Olympiad, further enhancing their command on coding algorithms.

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning with Python

This is a course designed for your child in Grades 9 or higher who is demonstrating immense passion for technology and computer science. A unique course to give students an early introduction to the fundamentals of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, the breakthrough advancements in the field of Data Science.

Students will code in Python and apply statistical concepts to pattern recognition and build self learning prediction and classification models. The pacing of the course assumes no prior experience with the topic and will patiently go deep into the cutting edge domain of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Content covered is usually taught in undergrad Computer Science.

Students required to have at least 12 months of prior programming experience

Android Mobile Apps with JAVA (Advanced)

Campers will learn the core JAVA as used in Android and build fully functioning mobile apps.

They will program multiple sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope, microphone etc) on a mobile phone or tablet as they learn the fundamentals of designing and coding apps and games on Android using JAVA. The fully functioning apps and games students build can be shared with family, friends and published on Google Play Store.

While building multiple Games and Applications, students will learn about coding and capturing different user interactions (tap, swipe, shake etc), translating text to voice, voice to text, visual animations and design best practices.

Engineering and Machines

Creativity should be unbridled. This camp will bring out the creative builder in your child with gears, pulleys, motorized movements for campers to create working prototypes of moving robots, machines, innovative vehicles and much more. Campers will learn the basics of engineering components and motions, transforming between different degrees of motion and then apply those concepts to design and build innovative structures and vehicles.

  • Build complete amusement parks including physical roller coaster tracks and learn about forces & motion and energy transfer. In addition, campers will also design virtual roller coasters and visualize their constructed ride in 3D with a VR viewer.

  • Build bridges, towers and explore the role of trusses and beams supporting the stability of bridges. Explore different joints and their relative strengths. Test, break things and learn about the strengths and weaknesses of different construction engineering techniques with a test and learn approach.
  • Design and build bottle rockets with water as fuel and learn the intricacies involved in making a stable flight and recovery systems.

  • Program Drones to solve challenging flight challenges and explore the drivers of stability, turns and more.

Science Innovations

A science program like none other. Campers will learn many science concepts that they often take for granted while conducting safe experiments to enhance their learning journey of curiosity and exploration. A program designed by STEM professionals, it's a innovative combination of experimentation based learning, collaborative discussions and asking a whole bunch of WHY's, HOW's, WHAT-IF's. If you have a curious child, our Science camp will lead them into a fantastic learning journey. Our Science camps will have a leading theme but will include experiments from all categories to create a balanced learning week.

A few highlights (our breadth of Science has a wide variety of learning experiments, more than we can list):

Physics:

  • Deep dive into airplanes and flights. Explore the sciennce behind boomerang flights and build your own.
  • Design and build bottle rockets with water as fuel and learn the intricacies involved in making a stable flight and recovery systems.
  • Experiment and learn the unique properties and differences between Newtonian and Non Newtonian Fluids.
  • Electromagnetism and it's practical applications in generating supporting and opposing forces.

Chemistry

  • Chromatography and the separation of colors.
  • Creating Slime.
  • Explore properties of metals and electrolyte interactions to create electricity
  • Environmental science like water purification, cleansing of oil spills etc
  • Experient and learn how soap works, with magic milk.
  • Edible science experiments to explore concepts, create edible compounds (think edible water bottles even) and then eat them!!

Biology

  • Extract DNA and build an edible DNA model.
  • Compare and analyze Bacteria growth from different samples. Is the kitchen sink cleaner than a toilet bowl??
  • Analyze soil nutrients and explore soil microbes (are they good or bad).

 

School Recharge Camps: English Language Arts and Math Problem Solving.
Give your child a significant head start to the next school year with our camps that are designed to stimulate creative thinking, fun and learning by building skills and strategies on Math and English Language Arts.

In Math, your child will advance in concepts well ahead of time that will make their school year a breeze and they can keep advancing int heir own pace. Brush up on concepts that your child may need to get additional clarity on, as they build a solid platform in Math prior to school start. In one of the most engaging learning environments, your child will not only develop strong Math fundamentals but make new friends, play outside and just build smiling happy memories!!

In ELA, your child will advance in their Reading Comprehension skills with each student advancing based on their indidual pace needs.

Every week, the topics will be different. The variety of our programs are designed to keep campers challenged whether they attend one or multiple weeks.

Weeks of July 27, Aug 3, Aug 10: We will gear up your child for their upcoming school year and advance them in Math and Reading to give them a significant advantage when they re-start school.

School recharge camps will also involve short stints of Science experiments to keep the creative juices flowing. The group will pick and choose experiments for the week. Please see the Science camp description above for an idea.

High School Math Advancement Camps

This summer your child can choose from multiple High School Math courses and complete the entire curriculum in the summer.

Courses offered: Math 1 (9th grade), Math 2, Math 3, Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus AB/BC. Read more and register HERE.

Creative Writing

Campers will swim through the imagination filled world of creative writing on a variety of topics. Students will create works of fiction including mystery, fantasy, science fiction and more as they learn intricacies of planning, applying language styles of similes, metaphors, descriptive words etc, and develop effective and creative written communication skills.

The variety of our programs are designed to keep campers challenged whether they attend one or multiple weeks.

This Summer we are also introducing a unit on writing College Essays. It will be a choice for your child and in this unit, your child will start developing their individual write-ups as if they are applying for a college admission. They will choose from topics such as "Unusual circumstances in your life", "What would you want your future roommate to know about you", and more. These are all topics that have been solicited by colleges in the past.

Public Speaking and Oratory

Bringing to our campers, the award winning program designed by expert coach Mr. Harrow of Ardrey Kell High. The Ardrey Kell teams under the coaching by Mr. Harrow have won many national awards including

  • Top Speaker at World Debate Invitational
  • National Runner Up in Oral Presentations of Literature at the 2015 National Speech Championship Tournament
  • Overall Excellence in Forensics at the 2016 Grand National Forensics Tournament by being named one of the top 5 overall schools in the country
  • Many State Championships at the Tarheel Forensic League State Championship Tournament

Students will develop the great habits and strategies of timed eye contact, projection, effective body language, art of inflection and enunciation. They will develop the art of organizing and pacing their thoughts in a more effective delivery.

Highlights of specific weeks

Week of June 15th - Government and UN:

Campers will act as the UN representatives of a particular country as they research and present their country's case on a pertient issue that is relevant for the country they represent. They will need to develop negotiation strategies and deliver influential speeches to present their case and get the best possible outcome for their country. Campers will find themselves in situations where they will have to give and take, strategize with their colleagues and deal with wins and losses in negotiation. They can rise to any level of leadership that they are willing to go to.

Week of June 29th - Individual Oratory:

Students will get into depths of impromptu speeches, humorous speeches, persuasive speeches along with multiple mini speaking games. Have your child get an early start in developing their command over speech, the confidence to stand in front of a crowd and lead the journey of mastering one of the most important skills in life.

Week of July 13th - Mock Trial:

Students will review a factual legal case and prepare their trial strategy either as the prosecution or the defense. They will role play a witness, lead prosecutor, defense attorney etc as they work with their team to win the case for their client.

Week of July 20th - Fantasy Conference:

In the older group, students will finds themselves as members of the Order of the Phoenix strategizing to defend against the rise of the dark lord. On some days campers will be part of the Jedi Council, and your child as Master Windu might lead a discussion on a plan to thwart the advances of the Sith. A slightly more urgent situation might find our campers on the table with other Avengers trying to stop Thanos from annihilating half of the universe.

Our younger participants will engage in activities that may be closer to their heart and act as members of the Nintendo management team trying to decide what their next Mario adventure would entail. They may also break away and try forming a new company to build an entirely new line of video games. Possibilities and fun will be endless!!

Escape Rooms

A custom and age appropriate escape room game where students have to put on their best logical thinking and problem solving hat to crack codes, interpret clues and work as a team to chart their escape from the room.

Cyber Security & Code Breaking

Another unique camp focused on Code Breaking using various ciphers, keys and strategies. Find yourself as an agent of the CIA trying to race against time to decode a message send by Professor Moriarty to his cohorts. Free the hostage and earn the title of 'Greatest Code Breaker of All Time'. Learn about morse code, hieroglyphics and other ancient codes while embarking on exciting code breaking adventures. Students also learn about data encryption and cyber security by coding encryption logic. Younger students build a simple encryption/decryption logic using MIT Scratch. Older students will write encryption code as part of the Aug 10th week camp on JavaScript.
