Program Details
The exciting world of Competition Mathematics can often be classified into theory building and/or problem solving. Of course all mathematicians solve problems, while only a few are great theory builders. Theory building involves developing repeatable solution strategies that can be applied in problem solving and the building of structures that enable us to see patterns out of what appears to be chaos.
This Competition Math camp take students in an exciting journey full of theory-building AND problem solving enrichment. It is designed to encourage children to embrace problem solving as an exciting and uplifting social activity.
L2: MathCounts / AMC 8.
Pre-requisite:
- Strong Persistence.
- Grades 4 - 6.
Week of June 13th. 1PM - 4PM. $250. Full Virtual.
- Algebra: Expressions, Linear & Quadratic Equations.
- Counting, Simple Pigeon Hole Principle.
- Number Theory: Divisibility, Parity.
Week of Aug 1st. 1PM - 4PM. $250. Full Virtual.
- Algebra: Absolute Values, Inequalities.
- Geometry: Angles, Triangles, Similarity, Pythagorean.
- Number Theory: Primes.
Week of Aug 8th. 1PM - 4PM. $250. Full Virtual.
- Number Theory: LCM, GCF, Remainders.
- Probability.
- Geometry: Area, Perimeter.
Week of Aug 15th. 1PM - 4PM. $250. Full Virtual.
- Geometry: Coordinates.
- Geometry: Volume.
- Geometry: Polygons, Circles.
L3: Advanced MathCounts / AMC 10.
Pre-requisite, must satisfy at least two of the following:
- Scored a 15 or higher in AMC 8.
- Have been taking Mathcounts OR AMC 8 for at least 2 years.
- Has taken AMC 10 at least once and scored a 60 or higher.
- Grades 6+ (Grades 5 considered if they meet two of the above pre-reqs)

- Algebra: Linear, Vietas Theorem, Quadratics & Polynomials, Sequences.
- Number Theory: Modular arithmetic, Euler's Totient / Fermat's Little Theorem, Chinese Remainder Theorem.
Week of June 27th. 1PM - 4PM. $300. Full Virtual.
- Triangle Geometry 1: Angles, Pythagorean Applications.
- Triangle Geometry 2: Bisectors, Triangle centers, Similarity.
- Circle Geometry.
Week of July 11th. 1PM - 4PM. $300. Full Virtual.
- Solid Geometry: Cylinders, Cones, Tetrahedrons.
- Counting & Probability 1: Basic Counting Principles, Intermediate Probability.
- Counting & Probability 2: Stars and Bars, Geometric Probability, Advanced problems.
Week of July 18th. 1PM - 4PM. $150. In Person / Virtual. Free for students enrolled in Year Long Competition Math program (have to be registered through July).
- All around problem solving, test practice and discussion.
- Students will be taking a test every day for 60 - 75 mins of the level of AMC 10 or higher followed by an hour+ of discussion.
Thinking Feet’s main learning center is located in the Ballantyne area in Mecklenburg county. We are just minutes away from nearby Blakeney, Weddington, Marvin, Waxhaw, Pineville, Matthews, Wesley Chapel, Piper Glen and Fort Mill, SC.
