Paths

Thinking Feet presents PATHS

Beyond Classes.
Develop the Whole Student.

A long-term roadmap that develops your child into a leader who takes on real opportunities, leads initiatives, and communicates with confidence — ready for a top college and success beyond.

The Big Shift

From Optimizing the Day-to-Day — to Optimizing for Life After College

Most families focus on the next test, the next grade, the next AP class. PATHS helps you zoom out: we design a journey aimed at success in top college admissions as well as, in internships, in careers. PATHS will help your child not just attain a topc college admissions letter, but will also prepare them for success in the college and beyond.

Day-to-Day Grades, APs, tests Strong Profile Projects, skills, impact Success Beyond Internships & careers
The Honest Truth

Why not just focus on college admissions?

We have strong evidence that optimizing only for college admissions — without building core competencies — simply postpones the problem. Unsolved gaps surface painfully later, when students are applying for internships and jobs in college.

We have seen students get into top colleges and land great internships and jobs. We have also seen similar students, at the same top colleges, finish with no internship and no job offer. The difference is what was built in the years before.
Current Gaps

What most families only realize too late

The late wake-up call. Most families discover, while filling out college applications, that colleges expect evidence of accomplishment far beyond grades and SAT scores.

Over-investing in low return areas. Students spend middle and most of high school on grades and APs. These matter — but at best they place you in the consideration set.

Incomplete information. Families are often working with limited — and sometimes incorrect — understanding of what actually makes a strong college application.

How PATHS Works

A sequential, long-term build

PATHS is a four-stage journey that begins with understanding your child, and ends with professional-level work on their resume.

1

Identify Strengths

We assess each student's initial strengths, interests, and learning style.

2

Middle School Path

A custom learning path through middle school, currently focused on Tech and Engineering.

3

High School Ready

Students enter high school prepared to take on professional-level opportunities we create for them.

4

Real Results

Professional experience on their resume — plus the possibility of external recommendations.

PATHS in Detail

The journey, grade by grade

Here is what the PATHS roadmap looks like as your child moves from elementary school all the way through high school. Investing in Advanced / Competitive Math will be optional but highly recommended as it strengthens the foundation of Computer Science. The current focus of PATHS is on Computer Science. More tracks will be added later.

01

Grades 3 – 5

Building the foundations

  • Math: Foundations of Competition Math.
  • Computer Science: Complete the Advanced Block CS track — students independently execute complex game-development projects using block-based programming.
02

Grades 6 – 8

Going deep, leading the way

1 – 1.5 hrs / wk
Advanced & Competition Math
2 hrs / wk
Computer Science
  • Math: Advance through Levels 3 → 4 of Advanced & Competition Math. Mathcounts, AMC8, and AMC 10 prep done by 8th grade.
  • Computer Science: Python foundations → real web apps with databases → Java, OOP, AI & ML → portfolio capstone.
  • Communication — no separate class: Adding a parallel ELA or public speaking class on top of CS and Math would overwhelm students. Instead, communication is woven through CS work via presentations, demos, and code walkthroughs.
  • At home: Thinking Feet provides a parent handbook and curated online articles to spark dinner-table and car-ride conversations — building general awareness and conversation muscle without adding screen time.
  • Summer camps: Middle grade summers include formal Business & Professional Communication camps — intensive development when students have the bandwidth.
03

Grade 9+

Professional-level work

  • Advanced AI / ML with real, practical projects.
  • Research and serious attempts at Competitive Programming.
  • Professional internships — the real thing, not shadowing.
  • SAT Prep.
  • Formal College Portfolio development (optional service).
For Parents

The Parent Handbook — awareness, built at home

Real growth doesn't only happen in class. The Parent Handbook is our way of equipping you to extend the work into the everyday moments — dinner conversations, car rides, weekend walks — without adding screen time or homework.

What's inside

  • Curated articles — hand-picked reads on tech, science, business, and current events, refreshed monthly.
  • Conversation prompts — ready-to-use questions that turn an article into a 10-minute family discussion.
  • "What to notice" — short notes that help you spot when your child is ready for the next stretch.
  • Vocabulary & context — background so you can engage confidently on unfamiliar topics like AI, markets, or research.

Why it matters

  • Awareness compounds. Students who routinely discuss real-world topics walk into interviews and essays with depth that can't be crammed.
  • No extra screen time. Conversation, not another app or class.
  • Family rhythm. A natural way to make growth a shared habit instead of an outsourced task.
  • Built for busy parents. Five minutes of prep, weeks of conversational mileage.
The students who stand out in college interviews aren't the ones who memorized more — they're the ones who've been talking about ideas at home for years. The Parent Handbook makes that easy.
