We’ve now had multiple cohorts complete our highest-level Tech programs. These programs are demanding — they require real grit and perseverance to finish. Some students decide partway through that this isn’t their path, and that’s fine; everyone’s journey looks different. Those who stayed the course have gone on to accomplish remarkable things, and not just within the program itself.
Some of our alumni are proud co-authors of a website built for the City of Charlotte that’s still live and in use today. Two brothers launched the first digital edition of their family’s newspaper in India. Students at this level have gone on to secure admission to top STEM colleges and land competitive internships as early as their sophomore year — and at that point, the results seem to have little to do with which college they attended.
Right now, our high schoolers are running Tech internships across three different nonprofits, each with its own distinct problem to solve. These students own the full development lifecycle — every technical decision is theirs to make — and they’ve already arrived at genuinely creative solutions to hard problems. Their work is, without exaggeration, well beyond what’s typically expected of high schoolers.
We’re now formalizing this approach and starting it earlier, with middle schoolers, giving them a longer runway to grow into real Tech leadership.
